As competition season starts I am all ramped up. I planned for a show on 2 May and to compete side by side with my g.f in her first show on 28 June. Starting to miss the bulking stage. Do you guys get the same feeling? Looking and feeling big feels great but so does a mean 6 pack

I'll post my story here...... Eric's advice on being in shape is critical. I have had and still having a ''Major '' problem bdy ft wise from the so called "BULKING PHASE" If i could turn back time, I never wouldve gone back to bulking after my 04 show..NEVERE NEVER NEVER.. Since 04, and after reading many posts. you can get the size you need/desire if youre eating right, supplementing right and training smart. Patients is key. Stay in shape, dont do as i did...

I'm with Eric. I was in shape from about September-the end of January and it's been very hard for me to wrap my mind around trying to GAIN WEIGHT...
On the other hand, I have a close friend that is competing this weekend and is shredded. He wants to bulk. It's crazy how different we are.

Well being an ecto, my bulks consist of 5000 kcals. Its from one extreme to another. I miss eating during contest prep and hate eating when I am bulking, Guess there is pros and cons to both. Being that I am moving to Texas (warm weather climate) it would make more sense to stay lean year round. What do you guys think is better say eating 5000 cals and doing cardio to burn around 400-450 cals or eating 4500 cals and doing no cardio. I know diet gurus all have there own opinions on this, but go ahead and sound off. I would like to see where most of you guys stand

definitely go with the 5000 cal + cardio. for cardio just do 1 HIIT session a week. LIT is pointless while bulking since LIT simply burns calories and offers no health benefits. however HIIT will be anabolic if your eating enough. also HIIT will benefit your heart (important since your gaining weight) and enable you to survive those Shock leg days.

Personally what I do in between shows when its "off season" I really dont count calories. i make sure I am hitting a certain goal for my protein and with my carbs I like to continue the low and high days, and then On the lower carb days I take the fats a little higher to make up for the difference. I usually do maybe 3 15 minute sessions a week odf cardio just the treadmill on an incline around 2.5mph. I just like during pre-contest use the mirror for the judge. As long as I still have my abs, obviously not show ready abs, but as long as I can see them all I know I am doing good. Becaus eI know at my young age at least, I need to put on a little fat to help my muscles grow if not my metabolsim speeds up so fast when I diet, I usually dont have to do cardio until 6 weeks out and its never usually more than 20 or 30 minutes. Just my opinion... ;D
