Found this place in a thread on PRRS training on Bodybuilding.com.
I'm a 56 yr old guy that has been training for probably 30 yrs. Pretty consistently for the past 15 or 20. I may be kidding myself but I still believe that there are gains still possible in my 56 yr old body. I've been using HST for the past 3+ yrs and have been on a plateau for quite some time. Lately have done some full-body 3 times per week or push/pull splits hitting each muscle twice a week.
Haven't taken any measurements lately but general info:
5'10" 210 lbs 33" waist
My lower back is a little funny at times and my shoulders have had some off and on damage over the years but overall, I think I'm in good shape and ready to try something new.
I'm still reading through all of the information on training using PRRS. I'm hoping to have my plan soon enough to start next Monday. Right now I'm thinking :
Monday - Chest, Bi's Tuesday - Back Wednesday - OFF Thursday - Legs Friday - Shoulders, Tri's
I'm very open to opinions as to things I should be doing, etc. I am normally in the gym Monday-Friday but I read in one of Eric's posts that he doesn't like a natural to train more than 2 consecutive days - hence I came up with the split above.
Thanks in advance for your advice,
Firm

Welcome to the forum. Great to have you here. As far as your split you might want ot think of womething like this:( just my 2 cents)
monday-legs tue-chest/bi's wed-off thur-back fri-dlets/tris
reason being that if yoo do legs before back and have 2 full days between them it wont hinder your back workout, ie..deads and rack pulls. Also i like to have legs first and not back reason being that if you hit your back good and its still sore the following days it will hinder your leg workout. Where come thursday my legs are rested pretty fresh and little to no soreness from monday thus nothing hindering my back workout. Like i said just my 2 cents and how my split is and why.
Again welcome to the board and ask away at any questions that you might have....

Welcome Firm! Let me just say that we are glad to have you here and hope you stick around...maybe keep a log. Aside from myself, of course, there are many PRRS experts around here to help you out.
And no doubt you can keep adding muscle at your age!!!!!

Welcome to the PRRS home, Firm.
I am six years older than you (62), and the transformation you will achieve using the PRRS Training System and Eric's guidance will pack on the muscle.
When Eric said "And no doubt you can keep adding muscle at your age!!!!!" - it is an understatement. You will.
Train hard.

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Seem to be spending all of my spare time here trying to digest everything that is going on. Lots of great information. I'm trying to come up with a plan, using others journals as a guide, that hopefully will be ready by Monday.
I train in a gym near work so Monday - Friday are usually my workout days.
I would like to applaud the people here - as I look through the posts I'm amazed at the encouragement coming out in the posts. Too many forums now have people that try to make you feel like your question is stupid or your opinion not as educated as theirs. Lots of respect coming across in the conversations and to me that reflects on the leaders here.
Great Job,
Firm

I can assure you of a couple things on this board: The people here are great and the best on the net IMO and; we will not tolerate people who respond negatively and don't show respect for others. I hope that you find both of these to be true as you stick around and experience P/RR/S.

I did my first Power workout today. I've been tired all morning so I didn't know how it would go. It's been gloomy and rainy here for the entire month of June and it seems to be sucking the energy out of everyone around me. Anyway - I ended up with a split of
Monday- Back, Traps Tues - Chest, Bi's Wed - Cardio Only Thurs - Legs Friday - Shoulders, Tri's
For my Power Back & Traps - today's workout was
Hammer Pulldowns - 3x6 Seated Row Machine - 3x6 DB Rows - 3x6 V-Bar Seated Cable Rows - 3x6 Shrugs on Hammer BP Machine - 4x6 Bent Over Lateral raises - 4x6
Impressions : It looks like it could take a couple of cycles to get my weights right. Some of it was a little hit/miss this time. Really have to work on my 4 count tempo on the negative side of the rep. Not used to paying much attention to tempo. That is going to take some work. Really wiped out by the end of the workout but after an hour felt good. Stayed away from deadlifts since I haven't done them in a few years due to some lower back issues. Thought getting back into them in my Power routine wouldn't be real smart. May try them when I get to lighter weights. Overall - I'm excited to get out of a training rut and hopeful that this system will get me moving forward again.
Ready for any advice/comments & Thanks, Firm
