So I'm having some trouble figuring out this diet thing. My understanding of nutrition I think is very basic. For example people say you should consume 1-1.5 grams of protein per bodyweight, but how do I got about that? What foods are best to accomplish that? And what does that exactly do?
To add on to this, my goals for the summer are to drop fat, and add muscle. Pretty standard goal right there I think. But I'm trying to be as efficient as possible. Now I don't expect to be Eric huge over night, nor do I want to. But I'm really looking to start developing my body, and the base of it is nutrition.
Thus I was wondering if anyone could point me to some articles to help clear this up. Or even books. I've been snooping around a lot of boards and such, and trying to make this info make sense. (Like I read an arguement about what type of steak was the best and that just played with my emotions.)
Any input on this would be much appreciated, everyone.

I use the Cut Diet by Scivation. They have several good downloads on their site. Look under "books"

You are going to find that the diet is the hardest thing for most to stay on. You will see results if you are consistent with it. Good luck!

Well most people when they begin to TRUELY diet, it can be extremely overwhelming. That is why I always suggest to start out easy and with the basics protein, carbs, and fats.
Protein- Chciken, Ground beef (93% o rhigher), fish (tuna, talapia), whey protein
Carbs - Oatmeal, Grits, Swt Potatoe, Yams, Brown Rice
Fats, Almonds, MCT's, Natural PB
Those ar epretty much the basic foods for a diet. Now how mcuh of everything to take in. Requires figuring out what is your goal, lean out, get bigger, try to gain clean size.
Are you an ectomorph or mesomorph, pretty much do you have a fast metabolism or a slow one?
How intense are your workouts? Are you an active person outside of the gym?
These are some questions you can base your diet off of. Hope this helps some!

Just noticed something. Grits and yams? How does that work out? And as a side note, I tend to pack on fat very easily. Which is cool, but I don't gain as any decent amount of muscle with the fat most of the time.
