Whats up everyone, I Just joined the message boards after lurking around for a few weeks and learning as much as I can about P/RR/S.
A little bio of myself
I'm 20 years old from long island NY. I'm a natural bodybuilder training for about 5 years and competed in my last show this past September. My goals since then have been to dedicate at least a full year of off-season training before dieting back down for another show, in which my goal is to win the novice overall. I know that in order to do that I will not only need to work on conditioning but to pack on more mass which is why I'm here.
I have trained many different ways over the years and really found that for optimal growth it is important to train in every rep range. For the past 2 years my best gains have come from splitting up my rep ranges during workouts. For example training one week in the heavy rep ranges (4-6) and then next week in the higher rep ranges (8-15) I always felt this was the best way to train however I would always hit walls after 2-3 weeks of training the same exercise in one or two rep ranges, so in order to keep progressing I would have to constantly change exercises. Those of you who have been training for a while know that there are only a few different exercises for each muscle that are productive in building muscle. so naturally after a while you run out of options and get stuck doing the same thing with very slow progress
I'm always interested in learning new things about training and dieting and when doing what I do on a daily basis (researching new methods) I came across P/RR/S. After I read in detail about it, it made so much sense to me. The basics of the program are exactly what I have been doing and feel is the most optimal but in addition P/RR/S had an extra component that my training was missing, Shock week. I never added any intensity techniques to my training and felt they were best off left as an addition to regular training. I never thought of having a shock week on its own but after learning how this program is set up, I cant believe I didn't think to do it already. To set up a week for just shocking techniques is so much better in my opinion then to add them in while your trying to train heavy for multiple sets, or trying to hit those higher rep ranges.
Thats what I love about this training system, It has all the benefits for optimal growth plus its fun to change things up every week.
So I'm here to reach my goals. Time to train
