I can never seem to get over 150 lbs for my dead lifts. I just stop no matter how hard I try to add weights. At 150 I can do about 8 reps. I've tried lower weight at higher reps, but mainly I just do what's prescribed for me. Wondering if any of you have any ideas as to how to increase my deads? I think they are one of the most important exercises in body building. They're not just working hams they're working lots of different parts. Oh and I go all the way to the ground with the movement.

Try doing shorter movements. Meaning a straight leg to knee only and back up, etc. I've seen some power lifters at work in a gym and noticed they do half movements at times like lock outs top hit certain areas more. I usually go full dead one week and then half dead the next. Also on back days a rack dead lift may help break you out of the strength plateau.

I'll try that thanks. Shorter movements one week, all the way down the next. I really wanna hit 200 before the year is out.

rack deads are awesome but for an fbb they might make my waist too thick. Although I've seen lots of fbb do them.

Did deads yesterday but my blood pressure was having a bad day as far as dropping super fast when bending over and coming up so my weight was the same. Going to alter some meds around to see if we can't get my bp to be more even when doing up and down movements. Could just be I'll have to live with it.

I hadn't done full deads in about a year and decided to throw them in one of my workouts a couple months ago.. I ended up pulling 405 for 6 .. was pretty surprised as I've never done this much (although I haven't really done them since high school)... I feel like my rack deads combined with stiff leg deadlifts helped me get to the next level. Keep going i'm sure you'll be there in no time!

rack deadlifts would do the trick I agree using rack pulls is a sure-fire and very effective exercise to do. The beauty of rack pulls is they are great for helping you to bring more back into the lift as well as breaking any sticking points with the deadlift. If building power in the lumber, upper back, and traps is up your alley then I would definitely rate this exercise as first class. Using it will quickly allow you to add dense muscle to your frame in a hurry, so get after it!

Racks combined with straight leg deads and good mornings should do the trick as mentioned. There is another technique, and you might be doing it anyway, but try dead lifting with 25# plates for a LARGER ROM. This might be just what the dr. ordered.

Rack deads and full ROM deads with lighter weight. I did that yesterday, lighter weight with more reps. Touched the ground each time.
