I wanted to update everyone here on how the show went yesterday. I had a blast. I had so much support from my mom, Kristy, Jaidyn, tons of friends, and even past and present students and players I've taught and coached. It was an amazing experience. I was pulled to do about 9 promos for the guy that was making the video of the event and I was stopped by at least 2 dozen other competitors, including 5-6 guys IN MY class on training/diet advice. Everyone was asking me who my COACH/PREP GURU was (ERIC BROSER...DUH!). And Kristy and my mom overheard people saying, "That's Kyle Harris...have you seen him today...he looks amazing!"
I had friends that competed at this show and I got great feedback from all. Almost everyone I talked to had me winning the class, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I took 2nd and I can live with that. I will check the real pictures when they are posted on www.musculardevelopment.com and www.rxmuscle.com under the contest pic sections for the NPC Natural Northern USA. I'd love for you all to look, comment, and CRITIQUE! Be harsh if you have to.
I saw the scoring sheet and the final result could NOT have been closer. This is a large show. Over 200 competitors, NOT including crossovers. I think every men's class other than the bantam weights had 11-12 or more. From feedback I heard I could have won the lightweight, welterweight, and middleweights at this show. The overall winner was the light heavyweight winner and a friend of mine. Would have been fun to do battle with him, but like I said, I took 2nd in my class and was not able to.
Regardless, Eric and I brought a brand new Kyle to stage. Now it's time to bigger and better things. I write this at about 9:30 PM Sunday and I can assure you my alarm is set for 5:15 AM tomorrow and I'll be on that elliptical or treadmill banging out my cardio, ready to tear into another 4 weeks of prep to rip it up and bring in an even tighter P/RR/S Eric Broser-Kyle Harris Teamed Package to the NPC Monster Mash stage. I'm ready for victory this time. Defeat is given to us for a reason. It is an objectifying wall we must pass through. I truly believe it is not how many times you are knocked down, but how many times you get up that defines a man. Well...this man has just risen again. Call me Phoenix!
On a lighter side, the trophies at this show are ridiculously huge. Jaidyn and Kristy got to the show late and there were about 1500 people already in teh stands, and I went to find them from the expo hall where I was working and Jaidyn saw me and started yelling, "DADDY, DADDY, you gonna win me a big trophy?" It was so awesome. When I did get a trophy I guess she yelled, "My Daddy won a big trophy and I'm gonna help him carry it!" Really puts things into perspective!
