My calf work is always at the end of my lift, maybe I should put it in the beginning I'm so lazy with them. I'll do them just not at the right sets/reps. I'm usually so tired by then I just kinda go eh, I'll wear high heels for 6 months before I compete lol. Anyone else kinda get lazy with calves? I really can't afford to since I'm so long in the leg and it's hard to gain mass there. Being tall sucks!

Mooooo LOL! I adore milk cows. Esp when they are babies and they love getting their chins and ears scratched then they suck on your hand and won't let go lol you gotta be prepared with apples and carrots!

I usually neglect at times with calves and abs and I find it better to start the workout out with them instead of the end. I get very lazy once I finish a major muscle group

Considering that most guys show mostly their legs below the knee when wearing shorts I think Calf devlopment is important. A nice set of Calves on a women shows her dedication to overall improvement.

I actually started to skimp on calves a bit, but I've really gotten after them recently. It is TOTAL mindset (for me) to hit them as hard as I do other lagging bodyparts.
Come on, G!!! Get after 'em like you hit chest. lol

Come on, G!!! Get after 'em like you hit chest. lol I have been told by none other than Mr. Bro-Z-A that I had "surprisingly" well developed calves! It comes from all of those years of soccer I guess.........with a little bit of Football mixed in back in the day!

It comes from all of those years of soccer I guess.........with a little bit of Football mixed in back in the day! oh so you played "footie" eh? I love how Aussies and Brits go nuts for "football" (that's the real soccer, they think our version of football is dumb LOL at least all the brits I've talked to). Yeah, soccer would for sure build up calves. When I was a long distance runner mine were great. I guess I'll do them first, like Russ said you get lazy after training a major muscle group. We women are lucky though, a nice pair of heels brings out the calves, so we have that advantage. Bummer I'm not doing figure though, so I gotta hit calves for sure. Get this- How DUMB am I? for the past 2 days I've been nursing a calf injury. I went into the gym in my sneakers after being in the snow and I guess the bottoms were still wet when I got on the hack squat, even though I rubbed them off well on the carpet, one of my feet slipped on the hack platform and my sneaker FLEW off and the whole sled came down and landed on my left calf. THANKFULLY I only got a deep bruise. I could have cracked something! It was 250 lbs landing on my calf! OW!

LOL my calf is still pretty purple. I get so many people asking me for advice on how to train (gotta get business cards from IB) that if they saw how dumb my injury was they'd be like um, no thanks lol. Wear long pants!

I like to do them by themselves in the AM after cardio.

I like to do them by themselves in the AM after cardio. Keith That's a good idea. That way you can't avoid them. I've been doing better it's just blahhhh calves! But I must say, I have those Reebok easy tone sneakers for women, and for real, they do work a little bit on calves, and if you're consistent with cardio like walking they hit your hams a little. I think they're making them for men now, for runners and for weight lifters. I know after walking on cement in them my calves start to scream after 5 minutes.
