There's a guy in my gym, regular fixture, I could always tell he himself was a retired pro builder by his training, it's very old school, he's gotta be in his 60's now. Anyways he came over to my mom to tell her how awesome I was looking, then later came to me and told me about his career, initially to give me a tip on my deads (old school, putting a couple 10 lb plates on the ground and putting your toes on it while dead lifting, said it hits your butt better, I used to do that but completely forgot about it). His name is Al Something didn't catch it, something Italian but if I told you you'd probably know him. He trained lots of pro's back in the 80's for the Olympia etc, all the major pro shows, both men and women. I told him you're (Eric) my trainer and he said he's heard of you frequently and how good you are so of course I sang your praises, GOTTA start wearing a tank that says "Body by Broser" with your web site on the back, I'll do that this upcoming month cuz SO many people are starting to come up to me. Today the female trainer Colleen who's always been my friend told me I was "transformed" and she introduced me to her client Miriam who's in her 80's but man, she's really strong for someone that old! Colleen works her very well, and she's definitely a little harder of hearing but said to me, you work really hard! It's really hard work isn't it? So cute.
Anyways Al trained the tip top guys and gals before they became hunks of meat, before the newer drugs came out and got abused and now we have what looks like bull steer cattle ready for slaughter (Eric shares this opinion btw not just me). I told him your goal for yourself and your clients is to bring out the beauty and lines of a built physique instead of just MEAT. He totally agreed that that's been lost. He definitely did his share of gear but nothing like what is used today,(I mean he's still alive well into his 60's! And able to work out and do cardio, so obviously there was no serious damage like there is today) he's got gyno and his joints are probably shot to hell so he doesn't lift as heavy anywhere near what he used to, but anyways like I said I could tell from his overall body composition that he body built for many years.
So, it was really cool to have a pro tell me how awesome I'm looking. Wish he was a judge for the Rochester show! I'd be in like Flynn!
