Ive been dealing with this wrist injury that happened last year. not sure if it was from the rack deads using wrist wraps or too heavy BB curls for my forearm, theres a pain on the pinky side of wrist. So far though its improved and i can do everything other than UPRIGHT ROWS. these put much stress on them using an effective weight.
I can however POWER through the pain but i feel this is just irresponsible and hope to find/hear of a better configuration for HEAVY and SHOCK weeks use of this exercise.
would heavy DB upright rows be a good substitute? maybe cable rope ones ive read about also? i havent tried either. If upright rows are a bad idea altogether what could i replace it with???
(currently using nearly all the exercises on standard sample)
thanks

If you read Ironman at all, they highly recommend DB upright rows instead of BB upright rows to hit the delts. I have used both at different times and get a different feel. Although no expert, if this hurts then take a break from these and add other shoulder exercises such as incl. db. lat. raise, front db. raise, smith machine press, Arnold press or Db. Press.

well i have no doubt the Dumbbell variation is effective, i am curious if you can use them on HEAVY days adequately? in the LOW rep range would seem a different animal of movement
im going to give them a shot today, hope to here more info soon from you guys

eliteis3,
I've been dealing with the same problem as you. Mine was from snowboarding. I use DB Uprights on heavy days and love them. Instead of 4 seconds, I use 6 seconds on the negative. My personal choice. This was after trying upright rows with an ez curl bar. On a side note, I found I was using my bad hand (wrist) to do the majority of driving. Over the last few months that I've focused on using the other hand for driving, my wrist has been 10 times better. I know that sounds crazy but its worth a shot.

Wow, that's actually a GREAAT idea. it would make more sense to use your hand with small day to day things like driving to aid mobility/recovery . hadnt crossed my mind ive been doing wrist curls to no avail im gonna start doing this
i did the DB upright rows and it seems MUCH better, no pain, but everyone in a while i had a pinching in the wrist. but still a big improvement over the barbell version.
