I have a question regarding the form on barbell straight leg deadlifts. Now, when doing regular deadlifts, I try to be very strict with my form and not allow my shoulders to roll forward and round the top of my back during the upward motion. I focus on keeping my shoulders back, chest big, head up and keeping my back as straight as possible. I do not find keeping the form a problem at the bottom of the lift because my knees are bending and I can maintain this posture through the entire lift. However, when doing straight leg deadlift, I find myself rounding my back and allowing my shoulders to come forward in order to reach the bar all the way to the ground. When keeping my shoulders back and back straight, as well as my legs, I can't go as far down with the bar as I'd like to get the full effect. Am I doing this correctly when I round my back, or not?

even with straight leg deadlifts your knees should be slightly bent. You will still feel a good stretch in your hammies without putting so much stress on your lower back. Also, be sure to concentrate on using your hamstrings to support your body weight as well as the barbell throughout the movement. Always always always keep your shoulders rolled back, chest up and out, and back flat as possible. Push your butt out slightly when bending down. Keeping your knees locked in any movement opens opportunity for injury (with exception to standing calf raises, etc)
